CREATURE COMFORTS

The best accessories of all are items that increase your comfort during long skywatching sessions.

In the cold night air, warm boots and clothing are essential. In warm climates, you may need insect repellent. An adjustable-height stool or chair lets you sit comfortably at the eyepiece of your telescope. A folding table provides a place to lay out charts and accessories, while a foam-lined camera case is good for storing them. A flashlight with a red filter helps you find things in the dark without affecting your night vision.
