Skywatcher Library: Astronomy: Skywatcher Library - CELESTIAL HANDBOOKS
Posted on Tuesday, December 07 @ 13:24:59 CST by astronomy

Many of these catalogs are now out of print or inaccessible to amateurs, but some excellent encyclopedic works are still available.

The three-volume Celestial Handbook by Robert Burnham, Jr., originally compiled in the 1960s, remains the most comprehensive. Another good reference is Rev. T. W. Webb's Celestial Objects for Common Telescopes, first published in 1859 but regularly updated.
