Telescope Type: Astronomy: Telescope Type - BUILDING YOUR OWN
Posted on Saturday, December 11 @ 01:04:35 CST by astronomy
  Telescope Type

In the past, many amateurs ground their own telescope mirrors. Few pursue this aspect of the hobby today because quality commercial optics are now widely available.

Building a telescope at home, however, is as popular as ever. You simply buy a mirror and other parts, then place them into a thick cardboard tube. This sits on top of a Dobsonian mount, which you can construct from plywood.
