Binoculars: Astronomy: Binoculars - BINOCULAR MOUNTS
Posted on Monday, November 29 @ 02:14:04 CST by astronomy

If you mount binoculars on a steady tripod, you will see much more detail in everything you look at. Many binoculars feature a centrally located threaded socket. This accepts an L-shaped bracket, which in turn bolts to any camera tripod.

To make it easier to get under the binoculars and look through them when they are aimed high in the sky, some manufacturers offer cantilevered swing arms that suspend the binoculars away from the tripod.

Another way to steady your view is to lie back in a deck chair or recliner, and use the chair's arms for support. What must be the ultimate luxury, however, is a rotating binocular-observer's chair.
